Laney Gatto '24 Recruiting Profile

I began my athletic career as a competitive gymnast when I was five years old. I credit gymnastics for my strong work ethic, determination and perseverance. I left gymnastics at the age of sixteen, which allowed me to focus on High School Varsity sports. I was a member of the Warren Area High School Swim and Dive team in 2022/2023 and received several awards and honors, including a PIAA District 10 fourth place finish and 1st Team Region All Stars. My dive team was also District 10 champions.  

I began my track and field career in seventh grade; and I have proudly been a member of the Warren Area High School Varsity Track and Field Team since 2021. I began my career as a sprinter (100m, 200m, 4x100m) and jumper (long jump, triple jump). In 2023, I added pole vault to my list of events, under the instruction of Coach Joe Sanford. I reached several goals throughout the season, including a PIAA District 10 8th place finish and 1st Team Region All Star for pole vault. (In addition to 1st Team Region All Stars for sprinting)

I participated in indoor track and field in 2024 and achieved a PR of 10'6". I look forward to pursuing pole vault at a collegiate level, reaching new heights and qualifying for NCAA championships. As a college athlete, I will be diligent and work hard to consistently break personal records. I am an extremely driven and dedicated athlete who loves challenges, while working closely with my coaches and teammates.

Throughout high school, I challenged myself with AP and honors classes. These courses required tremendous discipline and strong work ethic. 

I feel all of the aforementioned characteristics make me a great candidate for a successful team.
