I am passionate about running!
Although I have been involved in a variety of sports since I was four years old, I was new to track my sophomore year. Not sure what events best suited me, I began competing in the 300 hurdles, 4x400, and the long jump. My second year of competitive running, I began to develop a true zeal for distance running. I just started running the steeplechase this summer, winning the Region 19 AAU meet, and later placing in 2nd in the AAU Junior Olympics with a time of 7:44 for the 2000 meter race. I really enjoy the steeplechase race!
As an athlete, I challenge myself with other competitive events outside of track and cross country, such as the Spartan Race, 5K's, 10K's, and cycling races/rides. I truly enjoy endurance events, and in the last 12 months, I have logged over 1,100 miles on my road bike! Determined to persevere through challenges both on and off the track, I am always open to trying new things in order to test my athletic capabilities. I also feel that I am "teachable", learning a lot of this as a coach myself for gymnastics during the summers and after school. Whether training or competing, I am optimistic and patient, and I love to motivate my teammates with encouragement and a smile. Running has become my “lifetime sport,” and I am eager to embrace the opportunities of collegiate-level competition, continuing my passion for running as I begin a new path in my life.
