Personal Statement
My parents have had a huge impact on my life throughout my years and have really influenced me on who I have become. They have always believed in me and have given me the confidence when I had none. From little on, I did gymnastics for a long time until Junior High. Most of my determination, discipline, and flexibility came from Gymnastics because I trained every day and wouldn’t give up no matter how tough a skill got. Hurdles came really easy for me when I first started in 7th grade and I soon realized I had a lot of potential in this event for Track. My freshman year I started out on Varsity after my first meet and finished my season placing 3rd at Regional's in the 300 Meter Hurdles. Ever since then, I can’t imagine myself not running and doing what I love the most.
I have learned a lot about who I am as an athlete when I’m out on the track competing and how I have this competitive spirit that wants to always be ahead. I am always one of the first to be out there practicing and the last to end my workout. I realized that it doesn’t just take one person to win a championship, it requires a team. That’s why it’s important to have a leader who can lead their team to success. Academically, my main goal is to place in the top 10 percent at the end of my senior year so I’m able to have a lot of options when trying to pick a college. I want to pursue a college that meets both my academic and athletic aspirations.
