Hi, my name is Alani Robinson. I was born in Lemoore, California, I grew up in Seattle, Washington, and moved to Texas in April of 2019. I began running track in the seventh grade. I was recommended by my previous middle school coach, who thought I'd fit in with the team, so I tried it out, there was a lot of practicing, but it paid off in the end, because the first meet I ran, I won the 400-meter dash, and that's when I knew that I had found my sport.
Growing up I never thought that I would end up playing any kind of sport, let alone do a running sport. Track and field has really helped me open up more with people, and it's helped me embrace my completive side. For me, running track isn't just about winning, but about enjoying myself, and building teamwork skills, especially in the relays. It has introduced me to places I had never seen before and allowed me to see another side of myself I never knew I had.
As the years go by, I start to realize how difficult track gets though, and that makes me want to be better. My freshman year I set a personal record of 1:20.45 at the regional track meet, I was so proud of myself, but I knew I could do better, so this year I trained my hardest to try and beat that record so I could run state. I unfortunately fell short by .27 seconds this year, but I know that I can do better, and I will do better this upcoming season. My goal is to advance my track and field career to college, and hopefully grow as a runner.
