Karla Funes '19 Recruiting Profile

I joined a track team my junior year in high school. I’m a distance runner but was exposed to the racewalk event. It was a hard sport so I decided to give it a try because I love a new challenge. My first year in my life doing racewalk at a competitive level I was able to get 3rd place at the AAU Junior Olympic Games. My second year in track I was still doing distance running as well as the racewalk. Now I’m an All American Champion for the 2019 AAU Junior Olympic Games. Personally I didn’t think I would strive in that sport. But like I always told myself “achieve past your goals and strive for more “ that’s my daily motivation that keeps me pushing forward and focused on being able to take the next step with my ability to racewalk. I’m a class of 2019 graduate looking for to compete in college track as well as majoring in forensics and criminal investigation. I’m a Houston girl with big dreams, I’m working hard to move closer to them everyday. A recruitment would be a great blessing, it’s all under gods hands and I can just hope my achievements will get noticed. I’m a great leader with a positive mindset, I spread positive vibes and love to the people around me.
