I am interested in competing in cross country and track and field at a collegiate level because I am passionate about competitive athletics. I am a determined and focused athlete that is dedicated to my training. I am persistent and do am not easily discouraged. I am very respectful to my fellow athletes and my coaches and believe that a team must be cohesive in order to be successful. I am a well rounded athlete who also competes in soccer and Sanda (Chinese free form combat fighting). I am currently the undefeated national champion in 52kg for 9 years in a row now. I traveled to Burgas, Bulgaria in September of 2016 to compete in the 6th Junior World Championships and fought against Iran, narrowly missing the bronze medal by a couple of points. I also competed in the Pan American Championships that same year and won against Brazil, earning the gold medal for the United States. I recently traveled to Macau, China this past summer (August 2018) to compete in the 1st World University Championships and fought against Hong Kong, and barely lost by a couple of points. I round out my sports with personal strength and conditioning with a private coach. I feel like this is important to building a better athlete and I enjoy the challenges that my strength coach puts me through. He has developed a mental toughness that I feel is integral to any athletes success. I believe that all these years of training as a competitive athlete have given me a strong foundation for success in college as well as in life. and I hope to continue competitive sports in my college years.
