My name is Lauren Sturm and I pole vault and run 100m hurdles at Lovejoy High School. I was an elite gymnast for ten years before entering the high school track program. I grew too tall for gymnastics and had to find another sport that gave me the same excitement and challenge. Pole vaulting was so similar to the skills I had developed in gymnastics that I fell in love with the sport. I have only been pole vaulting for two years now and feel I have a lot of growth left. This year I jumped 12'6 in the indoor season and at the state meet I jumped 12'. I jumped 13' in July 2013. And am looking forward to continuing my progress the next 2014 season. I also ran the 100 m hurdles for the first time this past season. To my surprise and everyone else, I was pretty fast. I started the season with a 15 sec time and ended at regionals with a 14.7 time. I train pole vault , hurdles and javelin with the Texas Express club in the summer and fall. I have had some great improvements over the last few weeks and I'm hoping for a great season my last year of high school. I will be a senior 2013-2014 and am looking for a college that has a great track and field program that I can continue my success and contribute what I have learned to an amazing team.
