Hi, my name is Skye Lopez, and I’m a sophomore at Legacy High School in Midland, TX where I compete in track and field. Over the past two years, I’ve specialized in the 400 meters, and I’ve developed a deep passion for both the sport and the discipline it requires. I’m interested in exploring the possibility of continuing my athletic and academic career at the collegiate level. Since I started running track in middle school, I’ve been driven by a love for the sport and a desire to push my limits. I’m proud to say that I currently sit in second place as a record holder in the 400 meter as a sophomore, with a personal best of 59.3 seconds. This achievement is the result of countless hours of training, dedication, and support from my coaches and family. In addition to my performance on the track, I’m committed to maintaining a high standard of academic excellence. I’ve consistently earned a GPA of 3.5, and I’m involved in my favorite extracurricular activity - the Science Club. I work year round on training for, both, my 6A high school and summer track club. I have qualified for the Junior Olympics for both AAU and USA Track and Field.
Balancing academics with athletics has taught me time management, resilience, and the importance of a strong work ethic - skills that know will serve me well at the collegiate level. I am drawn to programs that value both athletic and academic success and provide an environment where I can grow as an athlete and a student. I believe that my determination, competitive spirit, and dedication to improvement make me a strong candidate for any collegiate program. I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute to a collegiate team and to continue developing my skills under the guidance of experienced coaches. My interest rests heavily on attending a college or university that fosters a successful marine biology program.
I look forward to the possibility of achieving new heights in my academic and athletic future.
