I didn't start pole vaulting until I was a freshman in high school. My high school track coach thought I would be good at it because I'm small but strong and I was a gymnast for many years. As is the case in many small schools, I really didn't have much time with my coach since she had to be spread out among all the track events. I qualified for the Regional meet my freshman year, broke my school's 20 year old record, and fell in love with vaulting. The next winter, before track season started, my mom said we needed to find a private coach and I needed to take some lessons. We found Bay Area Pole Vault Academy, and I became a member. In the past year, I have improved my PR by almost 3 feet in that short time and broken my own school record multiple times. Once I set my mind to something, I do not stop until I accomplish my goals. I believe this is a trait that will help me immensely in college.
I raise and show livestock for exhibition at shows across the country. Because of growing up around animals and wanting to take the best care of them possible, I am attending college to major in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. I am currently ranked #1 in my class headed in to my senior year. I will also be serving as president of the National Honor Society as well as President of my 4H club. I also take every Advanced level class that I can as well as taking dual credit courses when possible.
