My name is Casey Wiedrick and I'm an athlete on the Oxbow High School track team. I specialize in distance, mainly the 1500m, but I'm willing to do other events as I have already competed in most. Last year, I attended the decathlon at Burlington High School and this year I'm looking forward to it again.
I'm still not entirely sure what I want to do with my life, but I do know that if I have the opportunity I would run in college. Ever since I was little I loved running and doing the mile in gym class was always my favorite. I joined indoor track in 5th grade in an attempt to harbor this love. I very quickly found myself entangled in many distance workouts with the older kids. I was the youngest kid on the team and by far the slowest distance runner, but I kept working trying to keep up. I immediately found myself in love with this sport. Although, this passion and determination was greatly damaged by COVID. I struggled to find it again until I stumbled upon a running summer camp.
This past year I went to the Northeast Kingdom Running Camp(NKRC). Here I realized that I am a part of an amazing community and I have the opportunity and support to improve. Because of this, this past year I have been working beyond my limits to push myself and improve. This work has paid off, taking me farther than I ever thought I would go. I'm not sure what my limits are in this sport, but I do know I will work to find them.
