A member of the (high school graduating) Class of 2020, I started participating in track and field freshman year and discovered that I absolutely loved it. Particularly for shot put and (what I only found out at the end of the season) High Jump.
I can be stubbornly determined when I get a goal in mind, a trait that serves me well in working to best previous PRs. I work hard and follow directions well (so long as you don't mind a bit of eye-rolling or sarcastic commentary). Having participated in small school athletics I'm adaptable and willing to work with whatever event you put me in, even if that means a last minute switch to the 4x400. I have also been trying to train myself to use both hands in shot put (currently there is only a slight advantage with my right as I'm fairly equal with both).
Beyond sports I am an avid learner, reading constantly and maintaining a high GPA. I volunteer around the community when I can and work at the local library. I also intern at one of the local papers, taking pictures and writing articles, so I'm used to working with a busy schedule.
Ultimately my goal is to go to a college that will further my education while still allowing me to partake in some form of track. Be that a club sport or a JV/Varsity team, I want to keep on furthering my skills.
