As a senior at Tahoma High School in Covington, Washington, I work my hardest to excel in both academics and my running. I run track and cross country and get great satisfaction from that work resulting in success in school and athletics. My goals in school include keeping my GPA high and emphasizing science and math because of my career goals, as well as continuing to improve my testing ability in order to score well on future exams. Athletically, my first goal is to help my cross country team win its state championship next year. I’m striving to remain the team’s top runner and be a team leader by example through this hard work. In track, I am proud of my three league titles in the 800, 1600 and 3200 meters in the 2014 season. I have also set 2 school records in the 1600m and the 3200m and am working to improve my senior year. Attending a 4-year university is my first choice, because it would be a better challenge as I prepare for my career. I would like to go away for school because I have lived in Washington my whole life, enjoy traveling and want to experience something new. When in college, I will study dentistry. It is something I have wanted to do since 7th grade. Continuing athletics in college is also important to me, and I would like to pursue running both track & field and cross country. I feel as if competing at the college level would push me to do bigger and better things in all areas of my life. - Delaney Tiernan
