My name is Berkley Gorre and I am a Senior at Shorecrest High School! My current personal record for pole vault is a height of 11’6. I got 13th at state championships in 2024. Sports have been my entire life, from doing gymnastics for 12 years, to dive, and now track and field. This season has meant the most to me, since I got hip surgery in September that set me back and taught me how to push myself to recover and prove that I could overcome that obstacle. I have dedicated myself to working hard in school, and have maintained a 3.9 GPA, as well as being a part of National Honors Society, AP classes, and managing a part time job. I am a part of a Junior Guild that raises money for brain cancer research at Seattle Children's, along with several other volunteer projects, in which I demonstrate my leadership and care for the community. I feel I would be an excellent choice as a college athlete because I strive to work harder and prove I am still the competitive type I was before my surgery. I am a team player who always creates a fun environment, while putting in the effort to maintain good grades and energy out on the track. My experience with my past sports and the challenges this past year has thrown at me have prepared me for the next level of work it takes to compete in college, and I would love the opportunity to demonstrate my desire.
