Personal Statement
After having a rough eighth grade year, I moved schools freshman year. Then, COVID hit, and I found courage to move schools again, back to where I grew up, in Edgerton. When I returned to Edgerton, I became much more involved in school clubs and activities. This led me to joining track. Before sophomore year, most of my sports experience had been through gymnastics. I danced for about 9 years and played soccer for about 3 years, but gymnastics was what I stuck with throughout elementary, middle, and high school. Joining track was incredibly scary and different than any other sport I’d done. I wasn’t expecting to find such a love of pole vault, or running to be fair. The feeling of hitting a goal or even doing better than yesterday is like no other. I’m incredibly thankful to have the opportunity to pole vault with such a great coach and supportive team. Because I absolutely love pole vaulting, I would love to further my training and competing at the collegiate level. I feel the most myself when I challenge myself and push my limits. An example of this is maintaining a 4.0 GPA while participating in clubs such as DECA, Interact, and Student Council, volunteering frequently, and doing sports. Staying involved has taught me how to manage my time, be a leader, prioritize things, and set goals. My biggest goal at the moment is to do track in college. To achieve this, I am working my hardest everyday on and off the track.
