One of my academic and collegiate goals is to study psychology. I want to study this field because the human mind interests me and I want to be able to help others. Areas of psychology that interest me are forensic psychology, counseling, and psychiatry. My club coach has nicknamed me the warrior princess because I am hard-working and always determined to get better. I also worked to overcome hip injuries my freshman year to make indoor state for the long jump and receive 1st team all-county for the long jump and 2nd team for the 100m which I believe makes me a good candidate. I feel that I am different from other recruits because I have learned that sometimes you need to be able to do the hard stuff to accomplish what you want. Therefore, I train and work out multiple times a week and do the little things to improve. Besides being determined and focused, I have also been running track since I was 8 years old which has allowed me to gain a lot of experience.
However, I have been struggling with a recent back injury. I found out a few months ago that I have a herniated disc in my lower back, which took away my junior high school season. Therefore I havent had a chance to put up new times or PRs at meets. On the other hand I still determined to heal and return soon. I have been seeing various doctors, doing physical therapy, and still working out or doing the small amount of training that I can in order to hopefully return smoothly and prove I am still determined to continue running track in the future.
