Personal Statement

My collegiate goals is to be able to major in biology/pre-med. My aspiration goal is to become a specialized pediatrician. I want to work with children who have cancer, lung disease, heart failures etc. I want to specialize in this field because I want to be able to help children overcome their obstacles and be granted the life they want to have and limit them because they are sick.

I am a good candidate for a college team because of my determination to not give up on my team or myself in a game or practice. I am a very hard working person in and out of the water. My determination in games and practices allows me to be able to reach goals I set myself every game, and, successfully work the new drills we have learned. I always put 100% effort into every practice, scrimmage and game I play in.

What makes me different from other recruits is that, to me a team means more than a group of players-it means family. What I've learned from playing water polo with my high school and club team is that we all have this special bond in and out of the water. We already know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. With that being said one of my strengths in water polo is being a defender. My position in water polo is 2M defender. Usually, I'm faced with girls twice my height and strength, but I love the challenge it offers me. This position allows me to try new tricks and techniques my coach has taught me, strategically makes me aware of all the different drills the other team is using, and, the adrenaline rush and aggressiveness this position offers.

Academically I am a decent student with B's and A's. I work hard at keeping my grades in the A range or working towards that goal. I am a very hard worker in the class and outside of the classroom. I participate in class discussions, turn my work in on time, ask clarifying questions and always study and do my best on test. I would say my personality reveals around me being Greek. I am very involved in my church; I teach Sunday school to children between the ages of 3-10, I Greek dance and attend Greek organizations held by my church and other communities. In school, I am in the marching band and always go the peep games. I have volunteered at haunted houses, Arbor Day, beach cleanup, and different camps too. This is my second summer working as a swim instructor at Burlingame Aquatics Club, and I babysit during the school year as well. I would say my character is very Greek and outgoing. I'm not afraid to try new things or experiences , as well as, still being focused on my studies and team.

I love this sport and the challenge it offers me. If I were to play in college I would always give my 100% all, work hard on my studies and just have fun with my team. To me the most important thing about this sport, isn't necessarily how many goals or shot blocks I make, it’s the memories I make with my team and the fun and jokes we have together. To me that's what counts, and If I can play in college that would be an amazing opportunity for me to experience.
