I am a Team Saskatchewan water polo player who ahs played for Team Canada as the captain at the 2022 Youth World Championships. Representing my country and competing in NCAA water polo has been my dream since I started playing Water polo in 4th grade.
I am a farm girl from an athletic family. My two sisters and I all played water polo, competitive swimming, softball, and cross country running growing up, and my brother is a baseball and hockey player. My 6'8" father played College basketball at the Canadian University level. Family plays a key role in my life, even my mom was the assistant coach of my local water polo team for many years. My identical twin sister also suits up for Team Canada and Team Sask.
I am an attacker and driver, as well as positions at the top. I am right handed, but often play on the right side. As a teammate, I'm outgoing and helpful. Coaches tell me that I'm great with the younger players and that I need to share the load with putting away equipment each night. I am a hard worker who comes to practice each night ready to compete, with a smile on my face (until we get in the water).
I intend to be an English major, and I have a 3.3 GPA and a final mark of 5/5 in my AP English course. I have aspirations of becoming a published author, to build on the creative writing that I work on in my spare time. During the COVID shutdown, I was a freelance reporter for our local newspaper, but I work in the summers as a lifeguard and swim instructor.
The summer of 2022, I was invited to the Team Canada Junior Pan Am team selection camp in Montreal, where I trained with the top Canadian women players, and the the Youth Camp right after, where I was selected for the team. As part of Team Saskatchewan in the 2022 season, I won Gold in two National Championships, in the 19u and Sr. Women’s division, where I was a starter and scorer in both tournaments. I also play for Team Saskatchewan in the 2023 season, where as of February 2023, we have gone 10-0 between two tournaments.
I grew up on a farm in southern Saskatchewan, but I moved away from my hometown in eleventh grade to pursue water polo at the High School Excellence program at Martin Collegiate in Regina. As an active helper in my family’s organic farm and because I moved away so young, I am used to shifting environments and responding to challenging situations.
I look forward to hearing more about your program and I would like to introduce myself to you over the phone. 306-421-7879.
