My name is Elizabeth (Lita) Howard, and I am a Junior at Roosevelt High School in Seattle, Washington.
Since I began playing water polo, I have come to realize the role it has played in my personal growth over the years, pushing me to build a work ethic that has helped me be successful both in and out of the pool. It has taught me that challenge and change are okay- and that growth cannot occur without obstacles. Through teamwork, water polo has taught me leadership, revealing to me the value in every connection I’ve formed with my teammates. Now, I am looking for my next opportunity, to continue my water polo career in college.
As I’ve grown up in the Pacific Northwest, I’ve realized that there aren’t a lot of opportunities for high-level water polo, especially for female athletes. Overtime I’ve sought opportunities to improve and experience a higher level of play. In Seattle, this meant playing with the high school boys at Rain City Water Polo Club. Eventually, seeking further growth, this meant travelling nearly two hours away to play with the 18u girls at Puget Sound Polo. My journey for improvement took me out of state, to California, where I was able to both train and play with Rose Bowl Water Polo Club during the 2021 Junior Olympics. Moving into this fall, I intend to continue playing in California for LA Premier, while applying to a California school for my Senior year of high school.
