Never did I think I would be here looking for a future in woman's wrestling but I am so glad I am. Growing up I was always a multiple-sport athlete dabbling in soccer, softball, volleyball, basketball, and even track and field little did I know that none of these would hold a light to the passion I unknowingly found one day in the 7th grade. One fateful lunch I arm-wrestled a boy from my middle school who was on the wrestling team, after my huge victory I was left thinking "If I could beat him here why shouldn't I be on the team?". Little did I know that one day at lunch would go on to not only change my life but the history of my school. After choosing a small private catholic school to continue my high school education I walked onto a wrestling team that had never had a female wrestler which quickly changed. After qualifying for state my freshman year at 191lbs in my boys JV singlet with a t-shirt under and hair cap on, I soon realized I had found my sport and a community of amazing coaches and young women within it. Now a senior, one of 4 female wrestlers on my team, I am so eternally grateful for the maturity, growth, and strength I have found through wrestling. Leaving behind fellow girls in my legacy and a box of womens' singlets I am excited to see the future of my wrestling career continue and what more I have left to learn.
