My name is Desiree Jones; I am a 5’7” 149lb wrestler.
Freshman year was my first year wrestling -as throughout my entire life softball was my main sport. I am an athlete and pride myself on being extremely competitive and a hard worker both on and off the field. Wrestling, I thought, was just a platform to increase strength and balance as I prepared for the softball season; I did not expect to fall in love with the sport. I placed 3rd at the CIF Championships and qualified to compete at State. That was truly an amazing experience and it helped me set high goals for the rest of my high school career.
Sophomore year I won 1st place at the CIF Championships, then I took 1st place at the San Diego/Imperial County Master’s Championships –again qualifying to compete at the California State Championships. I was awarded 1st Team All-League and 1st Team All-CIF.
Junior year, while my state was crippled by the pandemic, I did not wrestle -but actively trained to perfect my craft and build strength and conditioning.
Senior year I recently took 1st at CIF and 1st at Master's for San Diego/ImperialCounty... I took 3rd at the California State Championships Feb 24-26th.
I envision my college years to be a personal growth period. My goal is to explore a science major that will position me well for medical school. I am confident that I have yet to reach my full potential in wrestling and wish to be a valuable asset to an amazing team.
