Lucy Self '26 Recruiting Profile

My name is Lucy Self. I started wrestling my freshman year of high school and immediately loved it. Three folk-style and three free-style seasons later, and I still am in love with this sport. My freshman year, I joined the team after the season had started. As you might imagine, I didn't win every match that year, but I stuck with it and saw a huge improvement. My growth trajectory is exponential, leading to a third-place High school State of Washington finish my junior year. 

I have started helping teach the kids wrestling practices at my gym, and I am building confidence and leadership skills through it while teaching kids what I love. I love this sport because of how much you can see improvement; it is all about how much you put into the sport.

I care deeply about academics and my grades as well. For the last two years I have maintained a 3.8/4.6 (weighted) GPA while also balancing as many as three sports at once during a season. I am interested in healthcare, top interests include nursing, kinesiology, or exercise science.
