I started Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 6 and immediately developed a passion for combat sports. When highschool came around I started wrestling, and realized that this was something that I wanted to take seriously. On top of school practice, I started Silverback club and competed at National tournaments. Wrestling has changed me not just physically, but also mentally. I understand the commitment and sacrifice it takes to reach a goal, while balancing school work and maintaining resilience. This devotion that I have created in wrestling has carried into my personal life, helping me to develop a strong work ethic and challenging myself in any way.
However, my journey has not been without challenges. Competing on the varsity team my freshman year, CIF rounded the corner and a month before, I dislocated my elbow in a tournament. This year, my determination fueled more than ever, I fractured the exact same elbow during the same time. Even though I was heartbroken for missing out of CIF again, I knew that these things happen for a reason. Now, more than ever, I am ready to give everything to this sport and the next season knowing that my passion and dedication will drive me even further.
