Personal Statement
My name is Bryce Kresho and I am a rising senior at Cass High School near Cartersville, GA. I started wresting in second grade after hearing about it from my dad who also wrestled when he was growing up. I played baseball and ran cross country in the past but realized wrestling was more motivating to me because of the physical and mental intensity of the sport. I enjoy the challenge of competing in the center of the mat and pushing myself to continue getting better by taking on more difficult opponents.
I believe I would be a good addition to a college wrestling room because I am a dedicated athlete and student. Everything I do ties into improving my performance in the classroom and on the wrestling mat. I continue to focus on a healthy life style, which includes a nutritious diet, to stay healthy throughout the wrestling season. I also am focused on making sure I stay on top of my classwork, completing my homework assignments before practice and during breaks in the school day.
I aim to be the hardest worker in the room and look to lead by example to encourage my teammates to push each other. Nearly every day I stay after to do extra. Sometimes it’s footwork drills and other times it’s a couple extra live goes or drills. During the summer and weekends I go to other rooms to work with top wrestlers in the state to push myself. I feel these attributes would be helpful to a college team.
My main goal for this season is to finish off my high school career with a 2nd state championship, a team duel championship, and placing at Super 32 and other national tournaments . I have achieved the first part of my long term goal of becoming a two timer so I will continue to push myself and put in extra work to achieve the rest of my goal. My team’s goal for this year is to defeat our local rival team that has been duel champions for the previous three years. On the academic side of my goals, I plan to continue taking more honors and college credit classes. My academic areas of interest are in biology and environmental science and I plan to continue exploring career options in these areas.
