2025 SpotlightFrom a young age, I always considered myself athletic. I eagerly participated in any sport my parents signed me up for—soccer, baseball, golf, even sailing. But none of them truly resonated with me. I felt like there was something else out there that better suited my natural strengths. When I entered high school, I set my sights on wrestling and decided to attend preseason training.
From that moment on, I fell in love with the sport. Wrestling became more than just an activity—it became a passion. I felt an undeniable pull toward the mat, as if something was missing whenever I couldn’t make it to practice. I developed a relentless drive for improvement, constantly analyzing my weaknesses and refining my technique. Competing thrilled me, and I quickly picked up the nuances of the sport—but I wanted more. I didn’t just want to participate; I wanted to dominate. I dreamed of executing seamless moves, controlling matches, and winning with confidence.
Despite my deep commitment to wrestling, academics have always been my top priority. Coming from a family that values education, I’ve learned to push myself in the classroom just as much as I do on the mat. For that, I am extremely grateful. Balancing wrestling, school, family, and friends has taught me discipline and time management. I never let my training interfere with my studies. While others were relaxing or chatting in study hall, I was on the bleachers, making sure I understood my math homework before the next test.
Now, as I continue training in the off-season, attending driver’s education, and maintaining my 4.0 GPA, I feel a sense of fulfillment in all aspects of my life—personal, social, academic, and spiritual. Still, I strive to grow in each of these areas throughout my high school and college wrestling career. I am eager to bring my work ethic, motivation, and discipline to the next level, contributing to any team I am a part of. Wrestling is more than just a sport to me—it is my family, and I take pride in being a part of it.
