Jager Corliss '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jager Corliss. I have so much I’m excited to share about myself beyond my love of wrestling. I would consider myself to be a well rounded individual. Not only do I want to compete in sports, I also have a creative side that I can’t ignore.  I have a nak for art and drawing. Travel has also been something my parents have instilled in me since the death of my grandparents. They didn’t see the world, so we make sure to seek out places we have never been and make the most of the life we live.  One of my favorite things to do is to learn about history by visiting places of historical significance.  I have considered an education in History, and also explored childhood education as a potential avenue beyond my high school career. I have been involved in an athletic sport my whole life, however, this is only my second year at wrestling.  My other passion is football. Some might say I’m the small kid. However, when I am on the football field, I play larger than life. Named as one of the leaders in tackles for the 2023 season, and also presented the “Hitter” award by my coaches, I feel like my determination overcompensates for my size. I know it is only my 2nd year of wrestling but I feel like I have grown leaps and bounds in this time I have been allowed, and I hope and know I have LOTS of years ahead of me.  I know that many wrestlers can get burned out by their senior year of high school, because they have been wrestling since elementary school. I have the momentum of a fresh, two year wrestler. I have proved to my coaches and most importantly myself, that I continue to improve and break down boundaries. Two years ago, wrestling wasn’t even a thing at McBain High School.  I am going up against prejudice and ignorance in regards to this incredible sport of wrestling at my high school.  Becoming a wrestler has taught me that giving up is not an option. I do not want to leave that mat without getting my hand raised.  The discipline that I must follow year round to get this job done, is something I am proud of. I am not ready for it to be over. Having the chance to wrestle beyond high school is very important to me. I know, given the opportunity, with my raw talent, I can help you continue to make your wrestling program successful.
