Throughout my wrestling career, I have been described as respectful, coachable, and driven. I began wrestling as a freshman and have been determined to rapidly improve from the first day of practice. I am grateful for having the opportunity to be instructed by various highly accomplished coaches as well as train with elite athletes, with several state placers and a champion around my weight class. I strive to be an exceptional role model and mentor for the underclassmen. I have also been a counselor at summer wrestling camps that my school has hosted, represented the wrestling program at my school’s open house events, and volunteered at an NCAA wrestling tournament. I have also made personal sacrifices for this sport, such as competing for my team at the regional tournament rather than attending my school’s National Honors Society induction ceremony. I am fortunate to participate in a college-preparatory school and have taken several advanced placement and honors courses while maintaining a 3.99 GPA. Due to these characteristics, I was invited to participate in a school athletic leadership event and have already been selected as captain for the upcoming season. This summer, I have been training over 25 hours a week, consisting of school practices in the morning, NC State Wolfpack Elite Summer Camp in the afternoon, and alternating between two clubs at night. I am also taking an AP Calculus BC prep course throughout the summer. My dedication to the team, sportsmanship, and ability to balance academics and athletics show my ability to uphold the values of the wrestling program and my high school. I am confident that I am well prepared athletically and academically for college.
