Placed 4th @ OSAA State Wrestling Championships 2017
I'm known by most, as just "Kernal." I am 17 and currently enrolled as a Senior at Riverside High School in Boardman, Oregon.
I have wrestled for just over 4 years, but I fell in love with wrestling at the end of my sophomore year. I finished the season with a record of 12-19. Ending the season at the State tournament where I went 0-2 and found an unquenchable thirst for more. Wrestling went from a sport I competed in, to a new way of life. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to wrestle competitively. My junior year, I finished the season at 31-15. I won the 3A Special District Champion Title! Then at state finished in 6th place. My goal for my final year at Riverside, is to place in the top 3 at state. Quitting/giving up is not in my vocabulary. I have seen several of my fellow wrestlers advance to wrestling at the next level, and I will do anything it takes to get there as well. I have lead by following the examples before me, thriving to always do better. Recently I was asked, "How bad do I want to wrestle in college?" My response was, "There's not a number you can come up with that could measure how bad I want to wrestle in college." I will be your asset!
While wrestling in college is important to me, my passion that drives me to college is Engineering. I have narrowed the field down to Civil, Electrical, or Architectural. I have realized that I love to work with my hands and be in the outdoors. I know that the engineering field is a growing and secure field to go in to. My degree in engineering will be my most prized possession! After all, getting my degree is the reason for going to college.
Life in eastern Oregon is good. I like to go camping and fishing in my spare time. I am a solid 3 sport athlete. I've played varsity football, varsity wrestling, and varsity track and field for all of my high school career. I am always doing something to stay busy. I have been the backbone of support for many organizations throughout my community. I have done everything from volunteer work, advertising, fundraising, teaching younger children, donated blood for the cause, and most everyone in town knows they can count on me and my word. I will prove by actions, that I am the "Kernal" you are looking for!
