Panhandle Nationa...Andrew has been an athletic kid at a very young age. Andrew started wrestling at the age of 7 with Sandpitt Youth Wrestling Club. Andrew learned the sport of wrestling quickly and had an awesome rookie year. Andrew won several local tournaments and competed in rookie only and open tournaments. Andrew continued to grow in the sport of wrestling. 2013-2014 was his best year full of accomplishments. Andrew won 3 TXUSA National tournaments, 3rd in another and 2nd in the TXUSA State Tournament. Andrew also learned about the importance of grades and education also. Andrew won the city title his 7th grade and was ready to win it again his 8th grade year. Andrew failed one class by a couple of points which ending up costing him the city title his 8th grade. I purposely drove by the school where the city championship was being held. As I drove by I could see the disappointment in him. I took the opportunity and told him to remember that feeling of disappointment he was feeling and if he never wanted to feel it again to work as hard in the class as he does in the gym. Andrew has been doing great since and is excelling in high school this year as a freshman in his academics.
Andrew is also very competitive in football as well. Andrew is the starting outside linebacker for the Freshman "A" team at Lubbock Monterey High School. Andrew has been a key part of a freshman team that is all ready showing promise to get Monterey back to the playoffs and all the way to State by their junior and senior year!
Andrew will also compete in track again this year for Monterey. Andrew ran the 200 yard sprint, the 4 X 100 relay and the 4 X 400 relay his 7th & 8th grade year and did well.
Andrew also trains in judo, brazilian jujitsu and MMA grappling and training. Andrew has excelled and impressed his trainer and instructors with his dedication and want to learn the sport and be the best. I keep Andrew in the gym with me and have him on a weight training program to increase his strength and endurance.
I can honestly say my son is a hard working athlete that will excel in anything he does but also knows the importance of grades and an education. Andrew will be an awesome athlete, student and representative for any college he is accepted to.
