Austin Blair '22 Recruiting Profile

2022 Update: I finished my senior season with a 43-4 record and finishing 3rd at the UIL Texas State Tournament. It wasn't what I was hoping for but I did finish the tournament by beating the guy for 3rd that beat me in the quarters. As a team we won the 2022 State Team Championship which is a great way to end with my teammates. 

Update: I am currently 32-3 as a senior 195lb wrestler at Lovejoy High School in Lucas, TX. I recently just won our District tournament with the championship match being my 100th win of my varsity career and was voted Most Outstanding Wrestling. I also just took 2nd place in our Regional tournament and qualified for the Texas State Tournament on February 18th and 19th, 2022. 

As a team we have pushed extremely hard to have a lot of firsts for the program.  We not only won our district dual championship for the 4 year in a row but won the Texas State Dual Championship for the first time in school history.  We also have won the Individual District Championship for the 3rd year in a row but won the Regional Championship for the first time in school history for our program.  I'm extremely excited for my final trip to State with my team. I will have to update you more next week, as for now the job is not done!

Update: I recently wrestled at the Freakshow National Tournament in Las Vegas and placed 6th out of the 41 in my bracket.

Hello, my name is Austin Blair.  My goals are to find a college that is a fit for me as well as I am for the coach and become an All-American or National Champion in whatever division I wrestle.  My work ethic and mental strength are my two biggest driving forces that have helped me improve every year.  In 2021 I was a District Runner-Up, Regional Runner-Up, and placed 6th at the UIL State Tournament at 220lbs.  My only two losses going into the State Tournament were in the District and Regional finals against Mason Ding who signed with Air Force.  

In an effort to make our team stronger and better I will be cutting to the 195lb weight class for the 2021-22 season.  I understand in order to be at my best I need to do this the right way and have been working at this all summer.  I have been going to morning weight lifting, afternoon open mats, evening club practices with Team Pride ran by John Hardy (Minnesota Gopher Alum), and most important proper nutrition. I have also attended four different camps this summer including the Jeff Jordan State Champ Camp in Ohio.  I look forward to the upcoming year to see my hard work and improvements go into action on and off the mat. 

My overall goal is to be a firefighter but understand not a lot of colleges carry this degree and have researched that criminal justice is a possibility for me to help me in the future as a firefighter.  I look forward to the possibility of talking with any coach interested in a future 197lb wrestler for their team.
