My general goal is to be a promotor and encourager of woman's wrestling. Through that I hope to build a woman's team in our school throughout high school as we currently do not have one. My personal goal is to work towards becoming a state Champion and move on from their to College level wrestling.
I believe I would be a good candidate for a college level team because I am driven, passionate about the sport, disciplined ( academically, mentally, physically, emotionally and nutritionally ), I listen to correction and invite it and I am team oriented and minded. I care very much about my personal goals but also the overall goals of my team and teammates. I believe in the concept that I am a reflection of my coaches and the school I represent so I take that very seriously.
I believe that I am different from many other recruits in that I live in a very small town with minimal opportunities ( I am the only female wrestling Varsity ) but I took every single one that I could and used it to build my skills. I overcome, adapt and grow ( which also shows in that my best position as a wrestler is bottom) . I learn quickly and enjoy pushing my physical and mental limitations. As evidence in that I was selected to be able to wrestle varsity this year as an 8th grader. I wrestled and practiced with both teams 6 days a week. So I put in a lot of hours and physical and emotional exertion. I have loved every second of it. I set goals and I do not stop until I achieve them. I can not say that I am one that just had the natural ability for the sport. It took hard work, dedication, studying the sport and taking practice extremally seriously so that it is now becoming natural for me. It is my true passion.
Academics are equally important to me. They come first so that what I am passionate about with wrestling is never hindered by poor grades. I am a 4.0 student in advanced studies and on the honor roll.
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement.
