    What the Coaches are Saying...
    Jun 27, 2019

“Why MVCC is Right for YOU!! Athletically ? Averaged 27 wins a season over the last 10 years. ? Competed for 6 National Championships in the same time span. ? Finished in the National Top 10 each of the last 10 years. ? The Hawks were Ranked #1 in the Nation for nearly seven weeks this season. ? This season the Hawks were Region 3 Champions and flew to Rochester, MN to compete for a National Championship. ? We finished the season ranked #4 in the Nation with a 30-4 overall record. ? Our team members are regularly recruited by NCAA Division I & II programs from all over the country. ? This season our team had: o 3 members selected All Conference including the conference Player of the Year o 2 selected All Region including the Region Player of the Year o 1 first team All American ? Personally I take great pride in seeing to it all of our sophomores advance to the next level in pursuit of their goals. ? I work very hard to market our players to NCAA programs around the country. ? Currently, half of this year’s sophomore class has already received scholarship offers for the next level with one girl being heavily recruited by multiple NCAA division I universities including: South Carolina State, North Carolina A&T, University of Maine, St. Peter’s University, Missouri Valley University, Old Westbury, and Rider University. Financially ? Total estimated cost of attendance (includes: tuition, books, housing, meal plan, fees…etc) is just over $12,000 PER YEAR at MVCC. ? The majority of our team receives full financial aid; meaning they pay NOTHING out of pocket to attend MVCC. Academically ? MVCC is part of the SUNY system and is a fully accredited institution. ? This means that students who graduate from MVCC are able to transfer ALL their credits in to four year institutions. ? Last season our basketball team had a combined GPA of 2.6, that’s equivalent to a B-. ? MVCC offers over 90 degree and certificate programs. ? MVCC offers students the opportunity to earn a quality education at a reasonable price while they explore their interest. ? As a Coach I take academics seriously. ? My full time position at the college requires me to monitor the academic progress of all the schools student athletes throughout each semester and offer guidance and support in areas where they may be struggling. I am here to see to it you are successful as a student and as an athlete. ? At MVCC we believe ANY student-athlete which truly wants to be successful academically can be. Socially ? MVCC is located in the medium sized city of Utica, NY. ? The campus is just of the NYS Thruway and both Train and Bus routes running daily to NYC, Syracuse, Albany, Rochester, & Buffalo making travel to and from school easy. ? Our team members frequently take trips home during the season when the schedule permits. ? MVCC has five large dormitories housing over 500 students. With several other off-campus college sanctioned housing options as well. ? Being located in a city gives our students far more social and entertainment options than many colleges which are in a more “country” setting. ? Students without a car have the option of discounted public transportation throughout the city and its surrounding neighborhoods. ? We have found that our team members from NYC prefer this setting than that of most colleges.”
