Baseball is something that has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. The highlight of my baseball career so far was being a part of a team that won two district championships and won the 11U Cal Ripken Maine State Championship. While the year as a state champion was everything I ever hoped for as a baseball player, I learned more from our loss in the state championship game the next year. Our loss taught me more about the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice and leadership than our win did the year before. It taught me the value of dealing with adversity and applying that to future scenarios, both on and off the baseball field.
When I was five years old, my coach called me “smiley” because every time I got on base, I was grinning from ear to ear. That is what baseball is to me – something that makes me happy. Just hearing the word baseball brings a smile to my face. I cannot imagine a world without playing baseball. Accordingly, I am looking for a college/program that will be a good fit for me athletically, as well as academically. I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but I also have the character, work ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program.
