Personal Statement
My collegiate goals are to play college baseball and to graduate with a college degree. I aspire to be the best student athlete that I can be. I have always loved learning and strive to keep straight A's every year. I also help out my fellow students by volunteering to tutor during my lunch hour. I am a hard worker, team player, and a natural leader. I work well with different personality types. I became interested in baseball the same way most did by playing wiffle ball as a little kid. I started playing little league baseball when I was 7 years old. I did not start out being a very good player. However, with a lot of hard work, practice, and perseverance, I have improved tremendously during my little league years and made the Varsity baseball team in my Freshman high school year and my Sophomore year I was selected to 1st team all region. I've learned that nothing is a given in life and it takes a lot of hard work to live up to your dreams. My parents have given me a good work ethic and have been positive role models in my life. They have taught me the value of treating everyone with respect. I have fine tuned my discipline by practicing martial arts, Tang So Do for 9 years. I am also on the year round swim team which definitely helps me keep fit for baseball. I've had a lot of obstacles in my life, like people saying that I can't do things but I always prove them wrong. I can remember in little league, I had one hit the entire season and I would be lucky to play Little League again. The next year, after a lot of hard work and determination, I hit four home runs, made the All Star Team, and made a travel team. I worked, didn't accept failure, and have used this as motivation not only for baseball but for life.
