Bret Malkin '16 Recruiting Profile

"Ice in the veins..." This is what I was taught from an early age while playing sports, while acting in a theatrical presentation, or while presenting a class report in front of a crowd. What makes me stand out from my teammates is the fact that nothing scares me on the mound or on the field. No matter the level of emotion around me, whether it's high from success, or low from failure, I continue to do my job by working at an even keel emotionally.

I look forward to furthering my education and my baseball career by participating at the next level for me. I am the youngest of five brothers from my family, each of my older brothers have been successful in their chosen paths. Three have now graduated from college (USC & Dartmouth), one is a senior in college (USC). One of my brothers was the 2013 Valedictorian at Dartmouth College with a double major in Classics and Linguistics. I understand what it takes to be successful and how to work hard. My parents are hard working examples to each of my brothers and myself, as they have taught us that we will receive out of our efforts based upon what we put into our efforts.

I know that my work ethic and talent will be a benefit to any collegiate program. My challenge at this point is to find the program that not only will benefit my educational goals, but will be a great fit for both the program and myself.
