Personal Statement
I am finishing up my Junior year at North Tahoe High School, in Tahoe City, CA. I have loved the game of baseball since I started playing T-Ball at the age of 4. I work hard everyday to become a better player. I love the game of baseball. I love the strategy of the game, the focus, and the baseball IQ it requires to play it well. I love how each and every play or at bat matters and can have a big impact on the outcome of the game. The trust and respect that my teammates and I have for each other on and off the field is something you cannot find everywhere.
Like many others, I am a multi-sport athlete, however, I am guessing I am one of few whose second varsity sport is alpine ski racing. I have been ski racing competitively for the USSA Far West region since I was nine years old and I made the Varsity Alpine Race team at my high school the last three winters. I believe that competing in these two very different sports has made be a stronger more diverse athlete and a better person. Though they are so different, both are highly competitive sports that require mental and physical toughness. They have taught me to overcome failure, be accountable, resilient and that I can always work harder and do more.
The hard work and determination that I show on the field or on the ski hill, I carry over into the classroom. Being a student athlete has taught me self discipline, leadership, determination, sportsmanship, both on the field and in the classroom.
It is my dream to go to a college with strong academics and a top baseball program where I can utilize my strengths and leadership in the classroom and out on the baseball field with my teammates. I am an excellent student, a diverse player, a tough competitor, a leader, and a loyal teammate. I know that I can be an asset both on and off the field to your school and your baseball program if given the opportunity.
