Joshua Archer '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Joshua Archer and I am a 2017 graduate from Berthoud, Colorado. I love the game of baseball and have played it for ten years.

My ultimate collegiate goal is to obtain an undergraduate degree in Bio-med or other science field that will allow me to attend Medical school. While obtaining this goal, I would like a chance to earn my way onto the baseball team, hopefully as a starting pitcher.  My dad was a varsity gymnast for Indiana State University and has told me tales of the athletic competitions he participated in, providing him with richer college experience. Because of my dad's great experience and my love of the game of baseball, I want to continue to play in college. 

I work incredibly hard year round both in the classroom and on the field, and I am a great leader. In the classroom, I take a number of AP classes, have won two academic letters and several other academic awards, and have had a GPA of 4.0 or higher throughout my first three years of high school. On the field and during the off season I work out with as many of the underclassman as I can in an attempt to share any advice I have with them, and to build a strong sense of team chemistry between the upper and underclassmen. I stay after practice almost every day to watch my younger teammates play and offer whatever advice and encouragement I can give. All of my high school coaches tell me that I have an incredible amount of heart and am one of the hardest workers they have ever seen.

As a high school baseball player, I am a two year letterman. Last year as a sophomore, I lead lead the varsity team in wins, innings pitched, strikeouts, ERA, complete games, and shutouts. That same season I was second in the league in innings pitched and ERA, fourth in strikeouts, and finished fifth in wins. I was named second team all-conference and first team all-area and runner up for pitcher of the year by the Loveland Reporter Herald.

I continue to play baseball for club teams in the summer, and I play football for cross training in the fall.
