My name is Derek Shaver and I am just a kid who loves to play the game of baseball, and has always dreamed about playing at the next level since I was just five years old playing tee ball. The main reason I love the game is because it is fun to me, and I love the type of atmosphere it provides. All the superstitions you have with your teammates, routines, the intensity, they all play a part in the reason I continue to play this game and wish to at the next level. I can play any position on the field, and my goal in college is to play where I am needed, like i do now for my high school team. My primary positions are shortstop and pitcher, though like I said above, I can play anywhere. Not only do I love to get better on and off the field, but I also push my teammates to get better at the same time because with out them, I would be nothing, and the program would be nothing. It's a family. I am also thinking long term as well, and about my future in Education, and which college would provide the best opportunity for me to succeed. I would make a good candidate at the college level because I push not only myself to get better but also those around me on and off the field, I would bring excitement and laughter wherever I am because at the end of the day we're all just a bunch of kids playing a game that we love, getting to play in some dirt. Lastly, because I want to win wherever I'm at and I will compete with everything I have until the end.
