Starts in a game like square stance receiving the ball well out front with developing strength in the hands. Gets the ball out on time with young arm strength that will continue to improve with added strength pairing well with his accuracy. Right handed hitter starts with an open stance and wider base. Lands closed after a lower leg lift with the hands wrapping into the load to create separation. Stays short with the swing path creating some linear contact mostly to the middle of the field. Secondary second baseman, active feet to it, some range laterally, very compact throwing motion, has feel for the glove to both sides and on the charge, higher slot here projects more to the left side of the infield, has an idea out there. Right-handed hitter, even base, slightly open, small leg lift trigger to square, creates separation, hands load up, uppercut path, developing feel to create extension and flatter bat path. Behind the dish, he does well to get in a good set up pre-pitch and shows off quick feet. He stays in an athletic position when receiving and his hands do a great job of staying firm and sticking the baseball. His exchange is quick and he makes accurate throws to his targets with a short arm action. He did a great job of blocking, keeping his glove down and getting a good down angle with his chest. His agility in getting his knees down was impressive as well. Works hard to maintain balance after blocking. At second, he shows off fluid footwork and centers the ball when fielding. He gets in a low fielding position and displayed good hands, especially with his backhand. His exchange is quick and he makes accurate throws to his targets from a variety of arm slots. Has a solid two-handed exchange on double plays. At the plate, he starts in an open stance and has a short stride with a good load. He has a good approach at the dish and does well to work through the baseball with a firm frontside, staying on-time. His hips rotate through contact and he gets good extension on his finish. He made consistent contact throughout his round and projects as a line-drive hitter. Overall, Ian is an exciting prospect that we will definitely be keeping an eye on as he moves to high school next fall!
