The global pandemic with which we are faced is testing our ability to adapt to an unprecedented situation. I have proven to myself that even with the limitations of online learning, isolation, and the loss of my junior year spring baseball season, I have the ability and discipline to meet my responsibilities and to continue striving toward my goals. Staying the course with a consistent, demanding daily program allows me to maintain a healthy balance physically and academically. Rather than filling the extra time in my day with useless activities, I use it to push my fitness routine harder and work on improving my baseball skills without the benefit of team practices or face to face instruction. My rigorous classes require me to put great effort into the work, while also preparing for AP exams. I have also been fortunate to be able to increase the hours I work on my part-time job as a laborer for my father’s construction company, which is an essential business in my state.
This experience has helped to confirm the type of baseball program that would be the best fit for me. My goal is to be part of a college team that expects its players to adapt, grow, and improve regardless of the challenges, not just as athletes, but also as students. With my self-discipline and full commitment, I am confident that I can excel on and off the field in an environment where players hold themselves to the same high standards as the program itself.
