Ian Barnes '23 Recruiting Profile

Thank-you for taking the time to read my personal statement. It means a lot to me.

I’ve wanted to be a baseball player since I was five years old. I love the game for the challenges, the fun I have with my teammates and my family watching me play. It is amazing to play with and against so many great players and make friends from Florida, The United States and even several countries.

My goals as a student-athlete start with my effort in class and continue with my commitment before, during and after every game. As a High School Freshman, I set a goal to maintain a 3.5 GPA in high school Honors classes and made the decision to attend Florida Virtual School and A3 Academy Tampa. Attending virtual school full time lets me further my education and spend as much time as possible working with A3 to develop as an athlete and baseball player.

Playing baseball has taught me about commitment, being patient, focusing on the positive and staying optimistic. On the baseball field, I am a team player first. I want my work ethic, attitude and effort to be an example for my teammates and help me be a leader on my team and I look forward to continuing to further both my education and baseball skills at the next level.
