JUAN SALINAS-BENTLEY '19 Recruiting Profile

My name is Juan Salinas-Bentley, I'm 17 years old and I am a senior at Oxbridge Academy of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Florida. I am an Honor Roll student with a 3.65 GPA and a RHP on the varsity baseball team for Coach Chad Mills. I have four pitches – a fastball, curve ball, slider and changeup. My dream is to play college baseball while pursuing a degree in sports management. If I don’t make it in the big leagues as a pitcher, I would like to work for the MLB in some capacity. 

My dad is a professional athlete. He’s taught me the value of a strong work ethic and being a humble and respectful teammate. I think my work ethic and perseverance are my greatest strengths. I always give 100%! My passion and dedication to the sport are undeniable, as well as my comprehensive knowledge of the game which I believe makes me an asset to any team. I take a lot of pride in being a hard worker, punctual, prepared, focused and a leader both athletically and academically.

My other interests include music, golf and polo. I also play travel ball for Elite Squad during the summer season. I have logged over 250 volunteer hours through my junior year. I am a member of the MLB Player’s Trust Volunteer Action Team and I created an annual fundraiser in 2013 called GAME DAY (Giving Athletes More-of-an Edge). For the last five years, I have raised over $20,000.00 to purchase uniforms and equipment for three local underprivileged public school baseball programs and a Christian-based non-profit baseball program in the Dominican Republic. GAME DAY continues to reaffirm my belief that it truly is better to give than to receive!
