Matthew Hager '18 Recruiting Profile

Matthew is a rising Senior and plays on the Cherokee High School Varsity team, in Canton, GA, as the starting 1st baseman and is in rotation as a go-to left handed pitcher.  He also holds a starting role on his Black Knights 17U/18U major travel team, holding positions as a left-handed bracket pitcher, and starting 1st baseman.  He considers himself a viable left-handed pitcher and quality 1st baseman.

Matthew is a true team player, sacrificing personal achievement for team success.  He is a smart baseball player, and has a strong IQ for the game.  He thinks on and off the field, and keeps himself engaged at all times.  He is coachable and adapts to coaching techniques well.  He hits for average, but can also hit for power, given his size.

I have coached Matthew Hager at the 14U, 15U, 16U, and 17U/18U Major level travel ball. Matthew is a very respectful young man with respect for his teammates, coaches and the game itself. He has continued to excel with knowledge and performance over the past 3 years and I would be willing to endorse that Matthew will continue to do so in the future. Matthew plays a solid first base with exceptional defensive and picking skills, and is a very effective Southpaw on the mound. He has a solid approach at the plate hitting from the left side and is consistent with putting the ball in play. He is the type of player that every coach would want as part of their team.
