2022 Spotlight
2022Highlights My name is Jackson Denton. I am a 2024 baseball player. I currently play shortstop and 2nd base on my travel ball team and for Evans High School. I am a member of FCA, HOSA and volunteer at my church.
I have been playing baseball for as long as I can remember. My dream to play college baseball started when I was very young watching baseball on tv. Seeing that as a kid you of course want to be one of those guys one day and so it became my main goal ever since. I learned my love for the game and also just how many people quit due to it being “too hard” or something along those lines. And they are right, but the fun and satisfaction you get when making a good play or getting a hit that shows that the hard work is paying off makes it worth it. I want to end my last two seasons batting .350 or higher and making a maximum of two errors per year. I have overcome lots of injuries in my time playing baseball. One of the most recent ones being an injury that took me out for a little over half of my freshman season. I would consider myself a perfectionist which makes me feel a need to have and do everything completely right. I think it has helped me a lot in the game of baseball. I also hate losing so much it drives me crazy. No one likes to lose but it affects some people in different ways and it makes me work a lot harder so next time we face whoever we played have a different outcome. I would consider myself a team player because I know how good of a player you are doesn't always get represented in stats and am always willing to lay a good bunt down for my team.
I think I am a pretty good leader because I hate when people are slacking off on the most basic things and I don’t hesitate to call them out on it. My philosophy is work now so you won't have to later. If you don’t slack on your workouts or at practice it could be the difference in winning a big game and celebrating and losing with everyone's head down hitting the cages to prevent it again. If you cheat at work you cheat yourself and hold yourself and your team from getting better. I received a gold glove award in 8th Grade and I was in the beta club. I was awarded a certificate of appreciation from veteran affairs for helping a veteran's wheelchair out of the mud before a baseball game and was given a letter from Brian Kemp for it. I played football in middle school and basketball in high school and was told by the soccer and track coaches to play for them but didn't due to the fact it was during baseball season. Baseball is all I have wanted to do for a very long time and I fell in love with the game at a very young age and haven't stopped since. There's nothing I want more than to play at the next level of baseball with that being in college.

Are you recruiting for 2024? If there is anything I can do to help you decide whether I might be a good fit for your program, please don’t hesitate to ask.
