I began playing baseball at the age of four and quickly realized that this was the sport I wanted to continue to be involved in. My goals for my baseball career have changed throughout the years. My first goal, at the age of ten, was to make a competitive travel ball team so I could play against other athletes who cared about baseball as much as I did. Once I had a couple years of travel baseball under my belt, I set my next goal of making the high school baseball team as an 8th grader. I was one of four 8th graders from two different middle schools that made the J.V. high school baseball team. As a 9th grader playing on J.V., my new goal was to make varsity for my 10th grade year. I met my goal by making the varsity squad as a sophomore. I plan to continue to have my high school baseball goal be to make varsity for my junior and senior years, but I am also focusing on sharpening my skills and becoming the best player I can in hopes of making a college baseball team. I am working toward that goal by working out in the gym 5-6 times a week, going to the batting cages 5 days a week, batting and fielding lessons, and playing with a travel ball team.
I mainly play outfield; however, I have played third, catcher, and can pitch. I have great ball handling skills, am a great base runner and have a good overall knowledge of the game. I am very coachable and enjoy helping my teammates. All of my coaches have told me that I have great sportsmanship. I always try to encourage my teammates whether we win or lose.
Academics are just as important to me as baseball is. I have maintained all A's my sophomore year in classes such as honors algebra II, honors world history, honors chemistry and AP chemistry. I plan to continue taking honors and AP classes my last two years of high school. My current unweighted GPA isa 3.8, but my goal is to have a 4.0 by the end of my senior year. I would love to attend a college where I can push myself in both academics and baseball.
I truly believe that baseball is helping to teach me how to be a more goal oriented and all-around better person.
