My name is Matthew Kaneshiro and I am part of the class of 2023. Ever since I started playing baseball at 4, my dad’s biggest goal was to get me on a college baseball team with a scholarship. As I continue to grow, I am now face to face with his goal and have already made it one of my own. I am a good candidate because I am willing to pour my effort and dedication to this sport, but as well as my teamwork ability. Whenever I am out in center field, the only thing that I am focusing on is to not let any ball by me. My teammates trusted me for the last 2 years on a high school varsity team to make plays, in which I did so. What makes me different from other recruits though, is my willingness to sacrifice whatever the coach needs me to sacrifice. I recognize and acknowledge other recruits abilities, as well as my own, but if a coach instructs me to move away from my home or to practice whenever I have free time, I will gladly do so. I may not be the #1 recruit for college or a naturally talented baseball student-athlete, but I will work hard and commit to whatever the coach throws at me.
