I started playing baseball when I was 4 years old. Since I first stepped on the field, I have aspired to play at the collegiate and professional level. My first day of T-Ball I told my coach I wanted to be a catcher just like Buster Posey and I have strived to learn and become a better player every year. I am a utility player on the field but my heart is behind the plate. I know that playing in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity that could change my whole life.
I have strong commanding presence when I am catching, people notice me when I am behind the plate. I am confident and play strong physical defense. I have mental toughness, and a high baseball IQ. I keep a great demeanor and don’t let a bad at-bat get to me. I am a team leader and try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates. I am very coachable and assist my coach in leading practices and encouraging other teammates. I strive to be one of the hardest working players on the field and one of the hardest working recruits you’ll find. When a coach or team mate asks for help, I am the first person to raise my hand or offer my help. I love the game of baseball and play to my fullest every time I step on the field.
I work hard all year round on my baseball skills. I have participated in several showcases in the past 2 years with my Boise Travel Team. I was also heavily involved in travel baseball for 7 consecutive years in California, traveling up and down California, Nevada, Oregon and Florida. I made the Varsity Baseball team when trying out my freshman year of High School. I take weight lifting and my physical and mental health seriously. I am continuously working on my swing in the hitting facility, which all contributes to my athleticism.
In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a good GPA. School doesn’t come easy for me so I need to work extra hard to keep my grades up but I know what I have to do to get to the collegiate level. I have had the opportunity to volunteer my services to organizations such as Vacaville Coat and Food drive, cleaning up RV parks and coaching young children at baseball camps.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and have coaches push me to get to my highest potential on and off the field. I would like to study Criminal Justice and become a Wildlife Game Warden. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a great role model to all my peers in my community and make my parents proud.
