Hi my name is Jeremy Claudio, I am 18 years old attending Lane Tech High School. Growing up seeing my cousin attend lane tech high school motivated me to follow in her foot steps. Ever since I was about 7 years old I wanted to attend lane but heard that it was very difficult to get into so I put in the work and got into the biggest high school in the city 8 years later. Now that I'm here the next step for me is college baseball and I feel it is such a big part of my life. Baseball keeps me going and keeps me a happy individual because no matter how life is in the moment, once you step on that diamond everything else goes away. It becomes a relationship between you and the game of baseball. I've heard the sooner you get your recruiting process going the better. I hope for recruiters and coaches to know my name and gain interest in me as I begin to prove myself as the right fit for a program. I have just finished my sophomore campaign winning our second consecutive city championship. Like my coach told us earlier this season, for some of us the big leagues is the next level because college baseball is going to determine how far you can actually take your talent. I am a leader not only on the field but off the field as well. I received a Captain award in 2012 for being not only a student of the game but a teacher to my teammates and leading by example. Baseball is extremely important to me and I hope that my skill set and intelligence will get me into a successful college. Ever since the age of 3 where i began to pick up a glove and bat, I have absorbed so much respect and passion for the game. It is more than just a game to me, it's my life. Everyday is a new day of opportunity to improve your approach at the plate and your defensive mechanics, and I feel that hard work and dedication are the staple points to kick starting those improvements. Playing baseball for a living would be simply amazing and I would be completely thankful because I would be fulfilling a dream and going to work everyday doing something that i love. For any coaches that want to know what kind of player I am, I am a strong defensive player with the potential of a top of the order guy who hits for contact and draws walks. I have good plate vision and discipline. I am more of a singles and doubles player but if they leave one over the plate I'll run into one. I know my roles on the team and excel at doing a job. I feel that every time you step up to the plate your role changes. You have to go out there with a plan and have to know what you need to do to execute that plan. I am willing to work my behind off for any coach because I am all about winning and will do whatever is necessary to prove my abilities. Through my first two years in the program I have won defensive player of the year honors both times and hope to continue to expand my game.
