Michael Lucas '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Michael Lucas and I am currently a junior at Lincoln Community High School in Lincoln, Illinois. My primary positions are shortstop and second base. I also pitch, play third base and outfield. I have always loved the game of baseball. My first baseball memory was trying to become the best switch hitter at the age of 4 in tee ball. I have learned many skills from a variety of coaches. This includes being trained and coached by current and past professional baseball players. Several of my coaches have told me I am very coachable and willing to follow their advice. They also loved that I was the first to the field and the last to leave. 

Some of my other passions are hunting, fishing, golf, skiing, and spending a day on the lake with my family. Playing wiffle ball and catch with my younger brother is also something I enjoy. I try to lift almost everyday in the off season with some of my teammates. Over the winter months, I attended an arm care/strengthening program at K’s Academy in Bloomington, Illinois. This program helped me achieve a 15.3 MPH gain in combined pull-down and mound velocity from 2022 - 2023. I am lucky to have loving parents who support my passion for baseball. 

I have been a high honor roll student every semester since I started junior high school. I currently have a 4.14 GPA and am interested in pursuing a degree in engineering when I attend college. I take many advanced courses and challenge myself in the classroom and on the field. 

I hope to attend a college that will fulfill my academic goals and allow me to continue to play the game I love at the collegiate level.
