Personal Statement

My name is Sam Mitre, class of 2025. My goal is to play college sports while academically building a future for myself. I am currently a Junior at a private catholic high school. I started my freshman year as a varsity kicker on the football team having a background of 10 years playing soccer and again played Varsity for my 3rd year as a kicker and on the offensive line. In the winter of freshman year and sophomore year I play basketball for the strength and conditioning before the baseball season started. This year during the winter I focused on baseball, weight training and conditioning. My freshman year I was on the starting baseball Varsity lineup ending our season 3rd in state. 122 at bats with 14 strike-outs and ending the season with .486 AVG. Currently, I was again a starter for 2023 baseball season as a sophomore and we won our Regional Championship.  My passion is baseball which I started playing at the age of 5 and travel at the age of 6 in California until moving to Illinois at 10.  My secondary love is for football which I played for the very first time my freshman year. My personal goals in high school are to maintain a solid GPA to help me get into a good college to work toward a career and play sports while achieving it. My mother has always taught me to be humble and kind. She has also instilled in me the importance of always leaving them remembering your name not just for how you played but for your character and good heart, too. I believe in the life lessons that can be taught on and off the field and that good sportsmanship, hardwork and determination are great ingredients to reaching your goals. I hope to always be connected to sports, in college I will study to be a sports physical therapist, preferably in the MLB. I look forward to seeing what doors my high school education and sports will open for me.
