Personal Statement
My name is Ashton Horchem from Illinois Central college in East Peoria Illinois. I have been playing baseball from the age of 5 and at a competitive level for the majority of those years. I have been fortunate enough to play up 1 to 2 levels throughout many of those years including 3 IESA State title runs from my 6th grade to 8th grade year where I was a starting center fielder and lead-off hitter for those teams. Continuing into my Freshman year of High School, I was once again fortunate, and grateful, to be pulled up a level and perform as the starting center fielder and lead-off hitter. I have always prided myself on my speed and ability to turn a single into a double and triple on the base paths. My batting average, on-base, percentage, and steals have always led, or been at the top at the completion of a season, but I would have never been able to accomplish this without a great group of teammates, coaches, and strong support from my family and friends.
I was a 3-sport athlete in High School, but have now fully transitioned to baseball in college. I am now a Sophomore on the Illinois Central College Cougars baseball team where I plan to complete my 2nd, and final year of JUCO. My dream is to still play at the competitive D1 level and will continue to work hard and prove myself every day to make that dream a reality.
Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. It would be a privilege to have an opportunity to prove myself, both athletically and academically.
